The Best Cabin Tents for 2021

April 22, 2021 By Jamie Taylor Leave a Comment

I think its safe to say everyone loves cabin tents! Not only is there extra space to stand up, but also better protection from the elements. What’s not to love?

Cabins tend to focus on ease of use for large groups. What this means is, you end up with a tent that is designed purely for maximum occupancy and space.

Thanks to advances in design, these size tents are now a breeze to erect or takedown, which was always the biggest con when purchasing one.

The floor space is 14ft x 9ft which I’m pretty sure is bigger than some new york studio apartments.

One of the best features of the tent is how quick it goes up, the team at core quote a “60 seconds set up time” which might be a little too expectant of my tent building skills but its a solid benchmark.

What We Like:

  • Durable, Sturdy Construction – Cores H20 Block Tech ensures that this tent can endure harsh conditions and keep standing while your sleeping.
  • Electrical Access Port – Fitted with an electrical access port means you can keep your smartphone fully charged or a radio

Alpha Camp 6 Person Tent

The Alpha was a strong second choice for us and it really more depends on how many people you intend on camping with, while it has the exact same floor space as the core9 17ft x 9ft the space is used in a much different way (split into 2 separate sections) this offers much more privacy.

Along with the extra privacy, you also get an awning/camping porch which helps the Alpha feel snug and allowing you to sit close to your fire while under protection from the elements.

The core tent is constructed from advanced materials that provide protection from the uv-rays of the sun.

What We Like:

  • Portable, Convenient – With the carry bag having wheels it’s easy to store and transport.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can 3 people fit in a 2 person tent?

So, technically, you can fit 3 people into a two-person tent and it will just be pretty cozy and will be perfectly fine for a night or two. But, realistically, it’s going to be bad for the structure of the tent long term as it was originally engineered for two people and it’s likely you will start to see more wear and tear in a short period.

How big of a tent do I need for 4 people?

So the space needed per person in a tent is 13-15 square feet of space so for a good 4 person tent you are looking for around 55 square feet to 65 for some comfortable wiggle room.

What’s a Dome tent?

A dome tent is one of the most common tent types out there, it uses two lightweight poles that run over each other diagonally which creates the dome shape in the roof. The tent excels at letting the wind pass over it due to the lack of hard edges.

What is a Cabin Tent?

The trick to this one is in the name, cabin tents tend to be much larger and more spacious than dome tents and are more family or gathering orientated. Great for large camping trips!
